Students will be expected to complete all assignments according to the given due date. If a student would like to perform other songs, they must purchase their own copies. Musical Books: The songs that we study during class will be provided and should be kept in a binder. Topics Covered: Breathing, Posture, Vocal Anatomy, Music Analysis, Performance, Vocal Music Terminology, Foreign Languages, Basic Music Theory, Sight Singing Students will also be highly encouraged to sing at the NYSSMA solo festival at Kingston High School tentatively on either Friday, April 22nd or Saturday, April 23rd! Students enrolled in this course must be a member in one of our school choirs!
Students will be given several opportunities in class to sing as a soloist. Through various vocal exercises and songs, students should deepen their understanding of the voice, creatively express the meaning of the lyrics, sing a solo with confidence and vocal freedom, increase their sight singing ability and connect with others through music. This course will emphasize the correct vocal techniques used in solo and ensemble singing. We would like to thank the Whitesboro Central School District for its support of music and the arts, and for fostering the desire for excellence in its students. Riley plans to attend either SUNY Geneseo or SUNY Binghamton for biology. In her spare time, Isabella runs cross country, and this year she served as the team captain. In their production of Thoroughly Modern Millie she starred as Gloria, one of the Hotel Priscilla girls, and starred as one of the Storytellers in Once On This Island, Jr. Riley is also highly involved in Whitesboro’s theatre program. She has participated in NYSSMA Solo Festival for two years and participated in Area All-State in 10th grade. Riley also played the trumpet for six years.
She has been singing with the Whitesboro music program for nine years, and she performs regularly with the A’Cappella Chorus, Chamber Choir and Sweet Adelines. Riley Martin has been selected for the Mixed Chorus as an Alto 2. Isabella is incredibly proud of receiving a 100 on her NYSSMA solo last year. Isabella has her sights set on SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Potsdam, or SUNY Plattsburgh for furthering her education. She is an exceptional creator of music and hopes to major in music industry in college. In her spare time, Isabella enjoys writing and producing her own music. Her dance team won an award at nationals this past year. Isabella is a serious competitive dancer outside of school, having danced with Dance Works studio for 13 years. Isabella Lambert has been selected as an alternate for the Mixed Chorus as an Alto 1. He is currently looking at Austin College, Baylor University, Texas A&M and Nazareth College. He is proud of receiving a 100 on both his NYSSMA vocal and piano solos last year, being valedictorian of his class and being class president for all four years of high school.Ĭarson intends to pursue the pre-medical track after high school with a possible minor or double major in music. Carson loves participating in the school musicals, show choir, playing the organ at his church and cooking. He grew up surrounded by music, performing with both his mother and sister. He has been performing with the music department for nine years on both alto saxophone and voice. In order to be considered for the Conference All-State ensembles, students had to perform a level 6 NYSSMA solo at the Spring Solo Festival this past May and receive top marks.Īll three of our students received a 100 on their solos!Ĭarson Cook has been selected for the Mixed Chorus as a Tenor 1. This conference brings the most talented, top-scoring high school students in all of New York State to perform together, and students will have the opportunity to work with world-class clinicians to rehearse music to be performed.
